At church this year I have started leading a youth discipleship group with year 9 and 10 boys.
I meet each Sunday afternoon with a terrific group of Christian boys to read the Bible, pray and encourage them as they follow Christ. They are a very impressive group of young Christian men and leading this group has been one of the highlights of this year so far.
On reflection I’m really enjoying it because:
- The guys in the group are super committed, real and genuine about their lives and the joys and struggles of following Christ.
- I spend almost all my time at school teaching boys who are not-yet Christians. These boys are Christians, and it is so refreshing to read the Bible with them without having to defend it, or think I am being attacked every time I say something.
It has been so refreshing to spend time with a group of young men who are committed and growing Christians. It energises me for Monday morning when I walk into the classroom.
