I’m currently really enjoying writing a new unit for Year 12 that we’ll teach next term.
Using John’s gospel, we are going to look at eight people’s different responses to Jesus.
- Nicodemus
- Samaritan Woman
- A Blind Man & the Pharisees
- Lazarus
- Pilate
- Thomas
- Peter
- Mary Magdalene
I need suggestions of good resources on John.
What good books/commentaries/sermons/bible studies would you recommend?

I know a few years ago during SMBC’s Principal’s Hour various speakers did talks called “People Jesus Met” based on a number of the people you’ve mentioned. I think they maybe downloaded as mp3s from the SMBC website. (I’ve got them on CD)
Thanks Belinda – that’s exactly the sort of recommendation I was after… I’ll try hunt them down today!
John Piper preached through John – maybe the year before last? Pretty good stuff in there, especially the woman at the well from memory.
Primcipal’s hour maybe the year before last was when the people Jesus met series was on. Cooky’s sermon on Nicodemus was good one!
Thanks Dan – I’ll check Piper out.
Two recommendations now for the SMBC talks – definitely need to get them!
